Excavation. We excavate to a minimum 250mm depth for residential driveways — deeper on the heaviest clay plots towards Aylestone Lane and the Sence Brook side. Existing surfaces and topsoil are removed and disposed of off-site.
Sub-base. A 150mm compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base is whacker-plated in 75mm layers. This is the single most important stage of a driveway — a weak sub-base on Wigston's clay subsoil will rut and settle within 2–3 years regardless of how good the blocks are.
SuDS compliance.
